Renting 12 or 15 Passenger Vans in NYC

I was planning a trip to the New York City. Since we are a family of four, I figured it would be easy. Hotel, airplane, and transportation there would be a breeze. A medium size car and away we go.

Boy was I ever wrong. What started out to be a nice family trip turned out like it was going to be a hectic fun in the sun trip for all of the family, not just my wife and kids. As the travel list grew then so did concerns about transportation. Finally, someone came up with the idea of checking out what the feasibility of renting one of those 12-15 seat passenger car rentals would be like. Some were skeptical figuring cramming 15 people plus luggage into one van would be a nightmare. In the end, about 12 of us opted for the 12 or 15 Passenger Van Rental. The rest decided to take their own vehicles.

What a great opportunity it was to be able to do a travel comparison between a car and a Passenger Van Rental. To begin with those that traveled by car had a huge complaint about the gas. When you think about it 15 people were traveling for the same gas price that 2-3 people were paying. That was a great savings that sure comes in handy when you are on vacation.

Another great feature was that the kids that were traveling in the 12 or 15 Passenger Van Rental were a lot less cranky than the kids traveling by car. There were a few reasons for this. One is although they had to remain in their seats of course; it was far more spacious and comfortable for them. Secondly, they could see out the windows, which more often than not the little ones can’t when they are traveling by car.

Another great factor was the stability of traveling so long. Those that traveled in the van could go a lot more miles without having to stop to rest. When they did stop, they didn’t feel stiff and cramped like those who traveled in the cars. Those car travelers arrived at our destination several hours past us. This is because they had to get out and stretch a lot more than the van travelers.

There is no doubt in anyone’s mind from both the van and the car travelers that the 15 or 12 passenger van rentals was a far superior mode of travel. There is probably nothing negative I could possible say about traveling in the Dodge Sprinter conversion high top van. Well maybe just one thing, it was so darn comfortable and pleasant that everyone wants to get together and do it again next year. There goes my quiet blissful vacations.
